  • “If you already know how folding kayaks go you will need no instructions. It is simple. For first timers you read the instructions from Folbot. After a few times, it is less a question of speed than just simplicity. The Aleut tracks well, and was my choice for my first open ocean trip. The Aleut is very stable and that is the unfortunate tradeoff for speed. It is not a fast kayak. The spray skirt works well after some time getting used to it and adjusting it well. That Velcro tape is super. I chose to go through the cockpit bolts for an absolute water tight fit to avoid taking water when the waves come over me. This is not a large kayak but with careful packing and the use of the paddle to push things to the ends, you can get overnight gear for one okay. I had the misfortune of breaking some rivets on open water. The factory was very good about replacing them. The Aleut is a good safe, transportable (I took it on the airplane as checked luggage) and very functional kayak.” – Tim McDonald from Jackson, TN
